We're Traditionally inclusive

By TAA Vice President - Paul Sparkes

G’day everyone

Over recent weeks we have had numerous enquiries mainly due to rumours and confusion, concerning if compounds are allowed at TAA member clubs. So, I thought I would take the opportunity to clarify things for concerned Archers, Affiliated Clubs and Clubs thinking of coming over to TAA.

Now firstly before I go into this explanation, I best clarify that Traditional Archery Australia is not a governing body with the exception of meeting Insurance, Safety, some TAA administrative and other Statutory Requirements just like other associations, you run your club as you wish and keep all funds raised by you at club shoots, with the only exception being for State and National musters should your club hold one of these events.

Now that is out of the way the basic answer is YES compound shooters are allowed in member clubs if that club allows it, as I said before TAA does not govern clubs in their operation, with the only exception being for TAA State and National Musters where there are set guidelines.

TAA has many clubs that operate like this and it works well for them, it also fosters camaraderie between the different styles and we often see people moving to the traditional side down the track.

If a Club that chooses to be Traditional Archery only, that is fine it’s up to individual clubs to make that decision.

At TAA our goal is the unification of archers not isolating them.
